This can be an area that many leave to chance and there is no need. Google offer a free service called Google Analytics which will track a website providing details of who, what, when , where but not necessarily why. Who and Where - the tracking information provides an image of the world map on which dots appear to let you know where in the world the site has been logged on from. What - it will provide information on what screen resolution the user is using along with the type of connection they are using i.e. broadband, what browser software was used and so on. When - a time and date stamp of every visitor to the site is provided.
The website for this project has been evaluated by a peer group and their findings are available in the Website Evaluation section of this site, which has an extensive section on site evaluation.
This site will primarily be in CD form (site is also available at www.mip2.imagenemdia.co.uk) and therefore will not be subject to the same maintenance strategy that a true live site should be. In the real world maintenance is an extremely important aspect of running a professional website. Most websites have links to either internal or external sites or pages, often the pages can change or become out of date, a quality maintenance procedure will catch these issues. Add to this the never ending need for changing and updating content and images on a site to keep it fresh, this is all done in a routine maintenance schedule.
